A fall wedding is a great chance to play with themes and colors beyond the traditional. Apples, pears, gourds, pumpkins, cabbage, any seasonal fruit or vegetable can be used to create rustic centerpieces. Also, flowers like hydrangeas, roses, baby's breath and other plants encountered in autumn can be incorporated as well into the design of a lovely fall wedding.
Guests’ tables can be adorned by some dark green or brown leaves, that could be scattered all over the table, by some white table linens featuring fall patterns or by real leaves, that could play the role of the place cards.
While many couples tend to decorate their guests’ tables too much, others pay attention to the walls and ceiling of the wedding venue as well. And in case of a fall wedding, they recreate the look of falling leaves by painting the restaurant walls, and also by hanging all sorts of leaf-shaped crystals from the ceiling. Besides leaves, happy couples can also hang from their restaurant ceiling floral bouquets, wreaths of artificial flowers or combinations of dried seeds and gourds.

But not only the wedding venue should be decorated; the place where the religious ceremony takes place has to be decorated as well. And the best fall elements for a wedding are: some grapevine wreaths covering the backs of the chairs, and even the table where the unity candle is placed, candle scapes that illuminate the church where the wedding ceremony is held, and also create a romantic atmosphere, pumpkins and gourds, that are perfect in case of a Thanksgiving wedding, wheat and fruit, vegetables and seasonal flowers. In order to keep the expenses at a low level, we recommend re-using some of the centerpieces and decorations used at the wedding ceremony, at the reception party as well.
In case the wedding is organized in September, meaning immediately after the summer ends, the happy couple should consider celebrating their wedding in an outdoor location. September is still a warm month, and a wedding organized in a public park or at a botanical garden, can offer the happy couple all the decorations they could desire. Instead of searching for pinecones, leaves, vegetables and fruit, the happy couple could benefit of them simply by choosing to celebrate their wedding in a location like those mentioned earlier.
Nature has always played an important role in organizing weddings, therefore couples need to take advantages of the nature’s many benefits. It does not matter if the wedding is organized in spring, summer, autumn or winter; every season has its beauty and offers its own advantages, that should be appreciated by happy couples and their guests.

Wedding reception decorations can be purchased from stores that sell party decorations, can be handmade by the bride and groom, helped by some of their guests, or can be rented from one of the companies that offer happy couples the possibility of spending a low amount of money on their wedding decorations, simply by renting them.
The first option that is considered by a happy couple that wants to amaze their guests through their wedding reception decorations is to buy those decorations, that will be used even after the wedding. But in case of a large wedding, where more than 200 people are invited, the happy couple would have to purchase several tens of decorations and they obviously cannot reuse all of them in their house, after the wedding. In this situation, they either decide to offer their decorations as wedding favors, or to purchase only several decorations, and to rent the rest of them.

No matter what is the vision for a dreamy wedding reception, the happy couple will probably have to rent some decorations, in order to keep their budget low. So they should discuss with their wedding coordinator, asking him or her about the possibility of renting some of their wedding decorations. It is supposed that wedding planners and coordinators know companies that rent wedding decorations much better than a bride and groom, who are only once in a lifetime faced with this problem. After receiving several recommendations, the happy couple should visit those stores that rent wedding decorations, in order to see what kind of decorations they can rent; it is possible for some stores like this to rent decorations that are not desired by the happy couple, this is why it is important to visit more stores, to find the most suitable decorations for a certain wedding theme.
But wedding decorations can be also handmade, as we have said at the beginning of this article. Wedding receptions are typically filled with flowers, candles and other decorations. These decorations can cost a fortune, if you do not know how to handle your wedding budget properly, but they can also be extremely cheap, if you use your talents and create your wedding decorations yourself. Designing your own wedding reception decorations adds a personal touch to the reception, allowing you to save some money at the same time. And here are a few examples of how to create your own wedding decorations:
- purchase colored marbles, pebbles and stones and create an interesting decoration with them, by placing them in a tall and transparent vase, to make sure they are visible;
- purchase all sorts of colored fabrics and create artificial flowers;
- tie bows around vases to create an elegant look and use satin ribbons in your floral arrangements to make them appealing from all angles.

To create stunning centerpieces that will be used at a wedding, a person has to benefit of plenty of imagination, with no limits. An interesting idea that could be considered by any creative bride or groom is to have on their guest tables some paper magnolias, arranged in tall white cylindrical vases. These vases should be of different heights, to increase the visual interest. Paper flowers can be made by downloading a sample template, that will allow everybody to make the perfect crepe-paper flowers, without further instructions.
The next idea is a bit unusual, therefore recommended in case of an informal wedding. Most likely you know the expression ‘Love is in the air’; well, you could use this expression, by representing it through the help of some bird cages, where to place some little birds. Be certain that those birds that you plan to ‘rent’ for your wedding are accustomed to people, otherwise they will vocalize during the entire wedding, spoiling a lot of interesting moments, like the first dance of the happy couple or the moment of cutting the cake.

Besides paper flowers and bird cages with actual birds inside of them, we recommend using some unusual candles as well. These decorations including candles should contain votive candles, placed inside of some paper bags; they are called ‘luminarias’ and are adorable attention grabbers, especially when the light inside the restaurant where the wedding is celebrated is very low, giving these candles the chance to shine and be noticed.
Hot air balloons do not come only in large sizes, but are available in small dimensions as well. Generally, they are used in combination with votive candles again, just like the previous decorations, and represent a unique way of adding an extra something to a wedding venue. These balloons should be purchased only from specialized stores and not created by an untrained person.
Another idea is to use cylindrical glasses, where to place bouquets of various floral arrangements, such as Ping Pong mums, chamomile, and lady’s mantle. The uniqueness of this idea is represented by the fact that these bouquets are gathered to form conical bouquets, wrapped in some decorative papers or napkins. After they are arranged like this, they are placed in those cylindrical glasses, which should be filled with water, to allow the flowers to stay fresh for several hours.
Those who want to solve 2 issues at the same time, could choose to use as wedding centerpieces the wedding favors that they have prepared for their guests. In this case, wedding favors will be represented by some flower pots, creative candles, handmade products, sweets, flowers, small keepsakes, mini bottles of wine or champagne, and other objects that can be used both as gifts, and also as wedding decorations.

Candles represent a very good way to enhance the atmosphere of a wedding, being at the same time, a method of transporting guests to a more romantic environment.
Candles are made of paraffin, soy, beeswax, gel or tallow. They are made by candle manufacturers, who are traditionally known as chandlers. Candles can be very simple (such as votive candles), or come in elaborate designs.
Those who need some ideas of how to use candles at their wedding, should consider the next pieces of advice provided here.
The first advice regards using some floating candles, that are the last hottest trend in the wedding industry. You can keep small candles from getting overpowered by placing them into some slender glass vases filled with water. After this, make sure to surround those vases with some other transparent vases, holding beautiful flowers, like hydrangeas, roses and orchids.

A couple celebrating their wedding in winter can use candles to create a warmer atmosphere and also to substitute the lovely flowers that could have been used several months ago, in the summertime, if the couple would have organized a summer wedding. Thus, they can use some votive candles and place them into paper bags that feature some beautiful drawings, representing flowers. Blooms drawn on paper bags offer a romantic boost to any winter wedding. Why spend a lot of money on purchasing flowers from greenhouses, when you can use all sorts of tricks like this one, and be surrounded by flowers as well? Besides using floral images on paper bags, walls or tables in case of a winter wedding, we also recommend using some silk or satin flowers. In fact, even the bridal bouquet can be made of artificial flowers too, to make sure that it will resist the low temperatures outside.
Another spectacular idea is to use a sort of a tray, that has the same characteristics as a mirror, and place 10 or 12 transparent glasses on it. After this, in every class, you should place a thick candle, resembling a unity candle, allowing that tray to transform into a pool of reflective light, that casts an exquisite glow onto the reception tables.
Amaze your guests by using some photo candle centerpieces. For a centerpiece like this, you need to use a set of 3 hinged photo frames, placed around a votive candle. Obviously, these photo frames are not made of the usual material, which is metal or wood, but of vellum paper, allowing those photos to shine. Vellum paper is translucent enough for the images to be visible by candlelight, even when no other source of light is used in that location.

Wedding candles are important at any wedding reception, because they set a warm atmosphere and illuminate the environment where they are placed.
Generally, wedding decorations are created by the staff of the restaurant where the wedding will be organized, especially if these decorations are represented by candles; no restaurant manager will let outside decorators to decorate his/her own restaurant with decorations that could set his/her place on fire, if misplaced. So the staff of that restaurant has to be certain that candles are placed where they have to, in order to avoid any potential fire. Let us not forget that candles, besides being perfect for some beautiful wedding centerpieces, are also very dangerous.
The first recommendation we make to happy couples wanting to use some candles as wedding centerpieces is to place tall white taper candles on guest tables, and then surround them with vases filled with dendrobium orchids. This type of centerpieces should be used at a black-tie wedding.
Another idea is to use some Mason jar candles; obviously, these centerpieces are appropriate for an informal wedding. The trick is to use Mason jars of different heights and sizes, where to place some votive candles. There should be mentioned something here: Mason jars tend to become very hot, this is why a sort of a warning should be written on them, to allow guests to acknowledge the fact that they can become extremely hot and even burn their hands. Mason jar candles should not be placed on guest tables where children are expected as well, because most likely not all of them can read, and because their parents might not be all the time attentive to them and prevent them from getting burned.

The next idea is very much related to the previous one, only that this time, instead of using those Mason jars, we suggest you to use a vintage candelabra featuring iron arms and small glass vases, thus to place those votive candles (or even taper candles) inside every glass vase. This is quite an extravagant centerpiece, that can be used with success at a formal wedding reception.
And if you need one more idea, use a modern take on luminarias, by placing some votive candles inside highly colored paper bags. And to make sure that your candle centerpiece will not be that easily forgotten, update the look with chic stripes printed onto those paper bags. Our suggestion is to use 5 or 6 paper bags like this on every guest table that accommodates 10 guests. Or, if you want to offer these paper bags as wedding favors, use a bag like this for any guest invited to your wedding.
